Faith is a community. We know each other. We worship together in styles that represent all of us. We have people of all ages who are at different points in their walk with Jesus, therefore our worship reflects that. We are a community of journeying believers.
We come together on Sunday mornings to celebrate. That’s what worship is at Faith - a celebration of what God has done and is doing in our lives. Central to our worship is the Bible, opened and proclaimed, for the renewal of our hearts and minds.
We use a mix of contemporary and traditional music to praise God. We use brand new music, hymns that have been around for centuries, and music that’s in between. We have four music worship teams – a choir, classical ensemble, a praise band & kids - that rotate and lead monthly. Each team has their own style which allows our church members to use the musical gifts they have been given. Our choir, led by John Fitchuk, sings a variety of musical styles, and edifies our worship each week.
Our worship uses prayer to draw us near to God and come before Him as a church body. We use liturgy to respond as a community to God and His Word. We use statements of faith to connect us together to the global church and to remind us of His faithfulness. Communion is celebrated once a month “not because we must, but because we may,” as a reminder of our Lord’s sacrifice, the new life that we have, and that He is coming again!
Our children participate in our worship because they are part of our church body.
We have a children’s message during the service and have them participate in roles that are suitable for them. For children pre-school age through 2nd grade, we have a program called “Young Children and Worship.” Before the sermon, children are dismissed to go to a special worship space to learn about and worship God in a way that makes sense to them. Children from 3rd grade to 5th grade are given an O.W.L. Bulletin before the service. This bulletin is designed to help them learn about specific things going on in the service, and to focus on God during this time of worship.
Every person has a way that they authentically worship, how they personally connect to God. Here at Faith we incorporate these different tastes and styles into our worship, while keeping the Bible central, to learn from each other and to be renewed in spirit for the week ahead. We invite you to join us in this journey!
