God is the first artist. God created a world of material beauty for humanity to enjoy. All people are created in God’s image, with creativity, curiosity, and imagination. God has created us to create artistic works of truth and beauty from the good material of our world. The Bible reflects people using a wide variety of the arts to glorify God (such as, poetry, song, literature, visual art, dance, and drama). We can create art today to honor God, bear witness to our faith, and inspire God’s people.
We want to welcome a wide variety of art expressions too. Art to share in our church might include visual art (a painting, sculpture, drawing, print making, or computer-generated images), musical offerings (choral or instrumental pieces), poetry, photography, dramatic readings, skits, puppetry, flower arranging, or choreographed works (solo or group).
